You could also use a tin core wick instead of wick, people have also used a lead core, but there are some hazards that come along with using lead, so I try and stay away from them. The point is that your wick needs to be rigid to be able to stand up in the gel mixture. Gel can be made in any size container, but the wick of course will have to reach from the top to the bottom, so you are only limited by the size of your wicks length. Hope this helps.
